About Sartor Designs
I'm Jen, and I'm a mischief maker, a feral homemaker, and the master of reinvention.
I told my husband the other night that I'm afraid I'm the worst kind of dilettante, I dabble in things for a minute and then I'm off to the next idea. He said, "Are you kidding me? You're a f@#king phoenix!" I decided to take that as a compliment, and not think about the whole burning my world to the ground aspect of phoenix-hood. Ahem.
I've been a nanny, I've been a caterer. I've worked retail and restaurant jobs. I've built a playground and put on parades, I've painted glassware and played in a band. I've put on a music festival, and I've created preschool classes. I've costumed over 70 theatrical productions, and even directed a few. I'm a proud member of many fandoms. I'm a serial dieter and a cheese enthusiast and the bookkeeper of a very busy and successful law firm. I've owned several very good dogs.
Speaking of being a costume designer, that's the identity I was trying on for size when the world - and all the theaters - shut down in 2020. After sewing a couple thousand masks, I was desperate for a creative outlet. My fabric scrap hoarding tendencies and my need to create dovetailed nicely with my growing enthusiasm for greener living, and Greener by Sartor Designs went from being a thing I *could* do to a thing I *am* doing.
I live in one of the coolest neighborhoods in Wilmington, North Carolina with my dynamic and ever-supportive husband and our teen-aged sons, who are creative in ways I'll never be and are honestly quite fascinating.
